HERE IS WHAT'S COMING FOR 2024

Are you interested in working as a makeup artist in the TV and film industry? 

You picked a good place to start your career in makeup! 

Despite the WAG and SAG strikes throughout 2024 that affected tv and film productions across Alberta, Calgary has still welcomed over 140 productions and the City of Calgary has approved 755 film permits! 

Calgary is currently Canada’s fourth largest film and TV jurisdiction making it a leading destination for TV and filmmakers.

Every year, over 3,000 professionals graduate from post secondary institutions to join the cities talent in film with skills in makeup artistry, film production, animation, visual effects and more!

Calgary’s creative industries sector is currently employing more than 32,000 people.

Professionals in the industry have had the opportunity to work on everything from independent films to A-list Hollywood productions in Calgary. Imagine doing an A-list celebrities makeup? How exciting!

As well, Alberta-shot project The Last of Us was nominated for 24 Emmy’s and won 8 of those nominations. How exciting as we had some AW alumni working on the SFX makeup teams of this production!

WHAT IS SHOOTING IN CALGARY 2024?

According to the ACTRA there will be several productions including: Witches X, A Dickens of a Christmas, Abracadavers Season 3, Heartland Season 18 and The Abandons.

This is all very exciting as the season will be picking up for the summer and fall. As a makeup Artist, this becomes the busiest time of year.
